Al Jarreau is a fantastic singer, but I think the music lacks spice, too bad he did not make records a decade earlier when the music scene was more open to a musical gourmet meal, would gladly heard him rattling with Scott Walker’s “Bish Bosch” boilers in the kitchen and cooking more exotic food, he has the voice of so much more than jazzy smooth pop, which is pleasant enough, but rarely essential like the best of good singers like Marvin Gaye or Curtis Mayfield. : ) […]
