Wikipedia : This day (June 7, 1940), in Treforest, Pontypridd, Wales, is born Sir Thomas John Woodward a.k.a Tom Jones, a Welsh singer.
@allmusic : Since the mid-’60s, Jones has sung nearly every form of popular music — pop, rock, show tunes, country, dance, and techno, he’s sung it all. His actual style — a full-throated, robust baritone that had little regard for nuance and subtlety — never changed.
@last.fm : Jones’ recording career slumped on the pop charts during the 1970s and 80s, although he placed 16 singles on the Billboard Country Music charts between 1976 and 1985, the biggest of which was “Say You’ll Stay Until Tomorrow” (# 1 Country, # 15 pop) in 1977
@Discogs : Jones The Voice first recorded for Decca in 1964, and scored the first of many trans-atlantic hits with It’s Not Unusual. By the end of the 1960s, Jones was a regular performer at Las Vegas, and had his own networked US TV show, This Is Tom Jones.
