And the correct answers (in case you missed one or two) are:
1. Boyzone recorded a cover of “When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going” for the 1999 Comic Relief telethon. Their version was titled “When the Going Gets Tough” and became their fifth chart-topping single in the UK.
2. “This Here Giraffe” by The Flaming Lips is the fourth track on their 1995 album Clouds Taste Metallic. The album’s themes include various animals, fittingly aligning with the song’s title.
3. The Charlatans released the single “Over Rising” in 1991. Coincidentally, it was one of several non-album singles released by the band that year.
4. Marijne van der Vlugt, the lead singer of Salad, once described “Drink The Elixir” and its unusual subject matter. The band was part of the 1990s Britpop scene.
5. The song “Time” by Marion reached number 29 on the UK Singles Chart on 3 February 1996. Its chart journey was relatively brief but noted.
6. The Welsh quote “Bydded goleuni!” meaning “Let there be light!” adorns the packaging of Super Furry Animals’ “Hometown Unicorn”. It’s a nod to Welsh culture.
7. Radiohead’s “High and Dry” appears on their second studio album, The Bends. It’s the third track on the standard album listing.
8. The music video for Marcella Detroit’s “I Believe” features her in a field with a mysterious sky. The director remains unidentified, adding to its intrigue.
9. Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine became known for using drum machines and samples in their production. Their style was part of their distinctive sound.
10. “Higher Than Reason” by Unbelievable Truth reached number 38 on the UK charts in 1998. The band briefly reunited in later years.
11. “Ma Solituda” is a track from Catherine Wheel’s album Adam and Eve. The album marked a sonic shift with more acoustic elements.
12. “Run” by Lighthouse Family is the eleventh track on their album Whatever Gets You Through the Day. Released in 2001, it also appears on their Greatest Hits collection.
