And the correct answers (in case you missed one or two) are:
1. Greg, a 23-year-old from England, inspired Amos’s track. His story of lost youth prompted the song’s melancholic tone and poignant lyrics.
2. Featuring a string section similar to “Yes,” “Not Alone” stands out on Butler’s debut solo album. This element contributed to its positive critical reception.
3. “Selling Jesus” critiques organized religion and politics. An unusual stance for a rock single, it invites listeners to question these institutions.
4. Intentional nods to The Beach Boys influence “At My Most Beautiful.” R.E.M. embraced this homage, especially through its harmonies and piano work.
5. Don Airey’s synthesizers lend “A Touch of Evil” its distinctive atmosphere. The chilling sound is coupled with metaphorical lyrics about demonic possession.
6. While “Another Night” topped several charts, it never reached number one on the UK Singles Chart. It did peak at number two, showcasing its popularity.
7. “Mind Adventures” itself did not impact US charts; however, its single “Feel So High” from Des’ree’s second album achieved recognition stateside.
8. The remix of “Spiritual Thang” expanded the single’s audience. Its soulful blend of R&B and gospel vibes reached wider listening demographics.
9. “Worker Man” reached #21 on the US Billboard Hot R&B chart, reflecting its strong reception in the genre within a competitive musical landscape.
10. After Louise Nurding’s departure, Eternal continued as a trio. “Good Thing” highlighted their ability to maintain chart success under this new lineup.
11. Ice Cube wonderfully sampled “Footsteps in the Dark” by The Isley Brothers in “It Was a Good Day,” reinforcing the track’s mellow, introspective feel.
12. George Michael’s “Father Figure” significantly shaped “Looking Through Patient Eyes.” P.M. Dawn utilized its bassline to enrich their soulful track.
