Wikipedia : This day (June 30, 1951), in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is born Stanley Clarke, an American jazz musician and composer known for his innovative work on both double and electric bass.
Stanley Clarke : Exploding into the jazz world in 1971, Stanley was a lanky teenager from the Philadelphia Academy of Music. He arrived in New York City and immediately landed jobs with famous bandleaders such as: Horace Silver, Art Blakey, ….and a budding young pianist composer named Chick Corea.
@allmusic : A brilliant player on both acoustic and electric basses, Clarke has spent much of his career outside of jazz, although he has the ability to play jazz with the very best.
@last.fm : His most famous album is School Days (1976), which along with Jaco Pastorius’s self-titled debut is held up as one of the greatest bass albums in the history of Jazz Fusion
