And the correct answers (in case you missed one or two) are:
1. Cinderella appears in the music video for “Fresh,” which whimsically features elements from the classic fairy tale. A Marilyn Monroe-like fairy adds to the retro charm.
2. In live performances, The Police play “Spirits in the Material World” in D minor. It offers a contrast to the studio version’s A minor arrangement.
3. Prince recorded “I Would Die 4 U” live at First Avenue in Minneapolis. The city earned a legendary status for capturing some of Prince’s key recordings for the *Purple Rain* album.
4. Boney M. incorporated “Mary’s Boy Child” by Jester Hairston into their Christmas hit, blending it with new material to produce “Mary’s Boy Child / Oh My Lord.”
5. The remix single of “In Private” by Dusty Springfield primarily featured different versions of the original track. It did not spotlight another specific song.
6. Sonia’s “Listen to Your Heart” is from her debut album *Everybody Knows*. This song contributed to her achieving notable chart success in the UK.
7. Stevie Wonder’s “Don’t Drive Drunk” was prominently used in a road safety campaign. It stressed the dangers of drinking and driving, making it a potent public service message.
8. The Linn LM-1 drum machine adds a unique percussive character to Prince’s “I Would Die 4 U”. It complements the song’s energetic and distinct rhythm structure.
9. Maxi Priest released his rendition of “Some Guys Have All the Luck” in 1987. It joined a lengthy line of covers, underscoring the song’s enduring appeal across artists.
10. “Break 4 Love” by Raze features vocals by Keith Thompson with lyrical input by Vaughan Mason. Erique Dial adds unique vocalizations, enriching the track’s texture.
11. “Youth of Today” followed Musical Youth’s massive hit “Pass The Dutchie”. The second single from their debut album showcased the group’s reggae roots further.
12. For their rendition, the Pointer Sisters drew inspiration from early 1960s girl-group pop. The retro flair aligned perfectly with June Pointer’s lead vocals and the thematic vibe of the era.
