And the correct answers (in case you missed one or two) are:
1. “Stiff Upper Lip” was produced by George Young. The recording sessions took place at Bryan Adams’ Warehouse Studios in Vancouver, with the Young brothers at the helm.
2. “Blackened Blue Eyes” features a piano prominently. The sinister riff was foundational in crafting the track’s signature sound.
3. Conor Oberst drew inspiration from a turquoise-encrusted ring he received from a stranger. “Four Winds” explores several societal themes.
4. “I’m Not Trading” is set in a 5-beat time signature. Its unusual structure differentiates it from common rock compositions.
5. The vinyl single “Dancefloor” by The Holloways included a cover of “Up the Junction” by Squeeze as its A-side.
6. “Shot Down” achieved a respectable peak at number 25 on the UK Singles Chart. It marked the band’s growing presence.
7. The promotional CD for “Say Something, Say Anything” contains a radio edit of the single. It provides a more concise version for radio play.
8. “We Luv U” was featured in the video game FIFA 2001. The track’s upbeat nature suited the gaming soundtrack.
9. “Kill Your Own” by Hundred Reasons reached number 45 on the UK Singles Chart. It achieved higher positions on specific music genre charts.
10. Backing vocals on “Vegas Two Times” were provided by Aileen McLaughlin, among others. This enhanced the track’s layered sound.
11. “The Irish Keep Gate-Crashing” tackled the pressures and expectations the band faced in their early career. It used gate-crashing as a metaphor for the music industry.
12. “Go For The Heart” placed fourth in the Song for Europe 1995 preselection. Samantha Fox’s identity was initially kept secret, adding intrigue to the entry.
