And the correct answers (in case you missed one or two) are:
1. “The Colours” recounts the Nore mutiny of 1797. It describes ships flying the red flag amid this historic rebellion. The protagonist is one of the executed leaders addressing a crowd.
2. “Going Underground” debuted at number 1 on the UK Singles Chart in 1980. This marked The Jam’s first chart-topper since 1973.
3. “House on Fire” by The Boomtown Rats features production by Tony Visconti. Known for his creative work, Visconti’s touch is unmistakable in this track.
4. “Victims of Circumstance” involves themes of reckless driving. The song describes a fatal car crash scenario, showcasing Barclay James Harvest’s storytelling skills.
5. “Dear John” proved challenging to perform live due to its length. Consequently, the band dropped it from the tour set amid the 1982 performances.
6. “Severina” by The Mission alludes to *Venus in Furs* by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch. Gothic themes are woven through this literary reference.
7. The 1986 re-recording of “Living Doll” with The Young Ones was for Comic Relief. The track humorously intertwines comedy and music for charity.
8. “Life in a Northern Town” was co-produced by David Gilmour. This production added a distinct touch to The Dream Academy’s signature debut release.
9. “Body And Soul” was originally released in 1984 by The Sisters of Mercy. Years later, it was included in their 2-LP compilation.
10. Paul Quinn’s first solo single, “Ain’t That Always the Way,” involved Edwyn Collins. Due to contractual issues, only Quinn’s name appeared on the record.
11. The promotional video for “Nukklear Rokket” was produced by Bruce Dickinson. Not merely a singer, Dickinson’s involvement spanned into visual work.
12. The Christian brothers were founding members of The Christians. The band’s name cleverly aligns with their surname and musical venture.
