And the correct answers (in case you missed one or two) are:
1. “Happy Ever After” was inspired by Nelson Mandela. Fordham drew from Mandela’s struggle against apartheid to write this tribute.
2. Electric Light Orchestra originally worked on the song under the title “Motor Factory”. The title later evolved to fit the themes of “Secret Messages”.
3. Mark Knopfler joined Phil Lynott for “King’s Call”. His distinctive guitar work and backing vocals added depth to the track.
4. Initially titled “Hooverville (And They Promised Us The World)”, The Christians shortened it to “Hooverville”. A practical choice for their debut album.
5. U2’s promotional video for the track from *The Joshua Tree* was filmed on Fremont Street. A visually fitting choice amid Las Vegas lights.
6. “Man On Fire” highlights Roger Taylor as a multi-instrumentalist. He managed much of the song’s instrumentation himself.
7. F. R. David released a French-English duet version of “Words”. This adaptation was recorded with Winda Sylviana in 2006.
8. John Fogerty penned “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” Bonnie Tyler later brought her own raspy flair to this classic on her album.
9. Elton John’s song contains a garden metaphor tied to Madison Square Garden. A place where he performed with Lennon, adding symbolism.
10. In Styx’s video, Dennis DeYoung appears as Kilroy. This character aligns with the concept album’s narrative framework.
11. McCartney’s “Waterfalls” does not feature him as a saxophonist. He did, however, hold multiple other roles, including producer and recording engineer.
12. “Storms in Africa” by Enya was used by Ansett Airlines. A fitting backdrop for airline commercials with its sweeping, atmospheric melody.
