And the correct answers (in case you missed one or two) are:
1. Martin Garrix and Avicii teamed up to produce “Waiting for Love.” The Dutch-Swedish collaboration resulted in a hit that captivated international charts, with Simon Aldred lending his vocal talents.
2. “Think of You” by Usher is a quintessential R&B track from the mid-90s. With its smooth vocals and romantic themes, it helped cement Usher’s early career.
3. “Caledonia” was originally composed by Dougie MacLean in 1977. Frankie Miller’s rendition in the early ’90s revitalized the song, turning it into a Scottish anthem.
4. “If I Hadn’t Got You” found its sound at Electric Lady Studios, where Chris Braide and David A. Stewart co-produced the track. It’s a hallmark of late 90s pop craftsmanship.
5. “A Girl Like You” was penned and performed by Edwyn Collins, frontman of Orange Juice. The track’s infectious melody and catchy guitar riff made it a top 10 hit.
6. With “Love The Life,” the James Taylor Quartet transitioned to a more song-structured approach, appealing to the soul and acid jazz scene that was thriving in the early nineties.
7. Sharon Corr of The Corrs wrote “So Young” as a heartwarming tribute to her parents. The song’s uplifting spirit resonated with fans, making it a key concert fixture.
8. Bon Jovi included “Someday I’ll Be Saturday Night” on their greatest hits compilation, “Cross Road.” The track is lauded for its hopeful message amid adversity.
9. Toni Halliday of Curve provided vocals on Leftfield’s “Original.” Her haunting voice lent an eerie atmosphere to the inventive electronic track.
10. Fran Healy of Travis drew inspiration from Oasis for “Writing to Reach You.” The nods to the Britpop icons are peppered throughout the song, both lyrically and musically.
11. “Talula” by Tori Amos extends its reach beyond radio, having been featured in the movie “Twister.” The track’s blend of sensitivity and power complemented the film’s intensity.
12. The Eliminator car became a ZZ Top video icon thanks to “Sharp Dressed Man.” The flashy vehicle is as memorable as the band’s rhythmic blues rock.
