And the correct answers (in case you missed one or two) are:
1. The Wallflowers’ song uses a broken headlight as a metaphor for struggling on despite limitations. Jakob Dylan’s lyrics explore the persistence of ideas through adversity.
2. “One Love” was The Stone Roses’ highest-charting single at release, reaching number four in the UK. It solidified the band’s popularity in the early 90s.
3. Curtis Stigers’ track was produced by Danny Kortchmar. Known for his work with James Taylor and Don Henley, Kortchmar brought a polished blues rock production.
4. “To Win Just Once” was contemporaneous with Tony Lambert’s lottery win. This event marked the end of his time with The Saw Doctors.
5. The song “Sunflower” was the first single from Paul Weller’s *Wild Wood*, released in 1993. It helped cement Weller’s success as a solo artist.
6. “Finetime” by Cast reached number 17 on the UK Singles Chart. The song was the debut single from their album *All Change*.
7. Gun’s “Shame On You” was released in 1990. It appears on their debut album *Taking On the World* and achieved Top 75 status in the UK.
8. “Tsunami” was inspired by The Silent Twins, siblings who became mute and infamous for their reclusive and later criminal behavior.
9. Metallica covered “Loverman” on their 1998 album *Garage Inc.*. This version introduced the song to a new audience, crossing metal and post-punk fans.
10. Thunder’s cover of “Gimme Some Lovin’” peaked at number 36. Their version retained the energetic feel of the original hit by Spencer Davis Group.
11. Ian McNabb’s single featured Crazy Horse members Talbot and Molina. This added a distinctive Neil Young-inspired sound to the track.
12. “Misery” by Soul Asylum includes the fictional company ‘Frustrated, Incorporated.’ The lyrics playfully depict a business that manufactures unhappiness.
