And the correct answers (in case you missed one or two) are:
1. Louis Clark arranged the orchestral components for “So Tired.” Known for his work with Electric Light Orchestra, he added a classical touch to the song. The track became Osbourne’s tenth solo single.
2. Mama’s Boys achieved a hit with “Needle in the Groove” in Ireland. The song’s pop orientation contrasted with their usual hard rock style, featuring a catchy tune based on playing music on a turntable.
3. The album version of The Beautiful South’s single runs 6:10. The track marked a successful debut, reaching number two on the UK charts and becoming a gold-certified hit in 2024.
4. Sigue Sigue Sputnik originally released “Love Missile F1-11” before it was covered by Pop Will Eat Itself. The cover appeared on *The Covers EP* and was listed in several cover databases as an official release.
5. Phil Lynott was one of the writers for “Chinatown,” the titular track on Thin Lizzy’s tenth album. The song was recorded in 1980, marking a period of lineup changes for the band.
6. “Diamond Sun” was inspired by Nelson Mandela. Glass Tiger used a demo sound processed through a Valley People compressor to achieve the final recording’s signature audio in 1988.
7. “Corroboree” is the Australian title for Split Enz’s album “Waiata.” The alternative name aligns with the regional cultural context, while the New Zealand release retained the original title.
8. Nils Lofgren was part of the E Street Band when “Secrets in the Street” was released. Known for his acrobatic performances, he also gained solo chart success with this track in the UK.
9. “Tension” is the B-side of Killing Joke’s single from “What’s THIS For…!” Reflecting the post-punk sound of the era, the track features the band’s original lineup.
10. Limahl was the lead singer of Kajagoogoo before launching his solo career. His 1984 song “Too Much Trouble” came from his debut album as a reflection of his early work.
11. Michael Camacho was a member of Sly Fox, the duo behind “Let’s Go All The Way.” The song became notable as their debut single, exemplifying the pop-funk style of the mid-1980s.
12. Mezzoforte recorded “Rockall” for their album “Observations.” The Icelandic band’s instrumental jazz-funk fusion track became a radio signature tune across Europe in the 1980s.
