And the correct answers (in case you missed one or two) are:
1. The song “Rubberbandman” by Yello is listed as lasting 3 minutes and 37 seconds on the album “Baby”. A tidy duration for a track that enjoyed moderate chart success in the UK.
2. The dance cover of Carl Douglas's track was released by Bus Stop in 1998. It maintained the original’s “Oriental riff” while adding contemporary rap sections for the late ‘90s audience.
3. Donnie Wahlberg, amidst his fellow New Kids, sang lead on the single. With Maurice Starr's guidance, the track exemplified the pop phenomenon of the late '80s.
4. Whigfield’s “Think of You” had a lyric adjustment to become suitable for radio: “I need you inside me tonight” was changed to “I need you beside me tonight.”
5. In 1999, “C'est la Vie” by B*Witched achieved recognition with an Ivor Novello nomination for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. A noteworthy nod for the Irish pop quartet’s debut.
6. The saxophone riff in Chad Jackson's track originates from “The 900 Number” by The 45 King, which helped popularize this particular sample in the mainstream dance scene.
7. Take That’s version of “It Only Takes a Minute” marked their first Top-10 single in the UK. A milestone for a band that would define boy band dominance in the early '90s.
8. Snap’s 1993 single featured new vocals from Niki Haris, distinguishing it from the original version on their earlier album. Turbo B was originally part of the earlier iteration.
9. Prodigy’s track "No Good (Start the Dance)" was once known as "Start The Dance" when performed live in 1993. The sample from “No Good for Me” transformed into a staple dance anthem.
10. “Jumbo” by Underworld belongs to the ambient techno genre. Released in 1999, it showcases the trio's depth in electronic music production.
11. Happy Mondays recorded “Step On” in 1990, a cover with a distinct Manchester twist. The lyric “you’re twistin’ my melon, man” became iconic with Shaun Ryder’s delivery.
12. Dusty Springfield’s 1990 album “Reputation” featured major contributions from Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe of Pet Shop Boys fame. Their pop sensibilities were a driving force behind the album.
