And the correct answers (in case you missed one or two) are:

1. “Stepping Stone” peaked at number 21. Despite the success of her earlier singles, its chart performance was more subdued. The accompanying video suggested themes of unrequited love.

2. Jake Scott directed the video for “God Is a DJ.” The portrayal of nightlife enhanced its success, especially with its feature in the film “Mean Girls.”

3. “After Hours” isn’t about death but reuniting with friends after long journeys. The rush to maximize quality time in London nightlife inspired its lyrics.

4. The Manic Street Preachers covered “Umbrella.” Appearing on an NME compilation, it showed their experimental side, achieving chart presence despite differing styles.

5. “Dolphins Were Monkeys” combined electronic and rock elements. It showcased Ian Brown’s evolution from his Stone Roses days to a more solo electronic sound.

6. “I.O.U. Love” reached number 48 on the UK Singles Chart. This marked one of Six by Seven’s more commercially successful singles.

7. Kid Loco’s “She’s My Lover” came out in 1997. Its mix of trip-hop and electronic styles established his presence in the burgeoning French electronic scene.

8. “Too Much Love Will Kill You” was meant for “The Miracle.” Legal issues delayed its release until “Made in Heaven,” posthumously featuring Freddie Mercury’s vocals.

9. The “November Rain” video became the first 1990s video to reach 1 billion YouTube views. Its orchestral rock ballad style remains iconic.

10. Alford’s version of “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes” used a reggae style, riding his acting popularity into music, albeit briefly.

11. “One” was part of U2’s “Achtung Baby.” It came during a rough patch for the band, yet emerged as a unifying and enduring track.

12. Sting’s “Mad About You” draws from David and Bathsheba. This biblical inspiration is wrapped in Eastern Mediterranean instrumentation.
