1. Featured guests at the 2000 Great Jazz at the Great Hill concert were trumpeters Wynton Marsalis and Alfredo “Chocolate” Armenteros. The event took place outdoors in Central Park.
2. In 2014, Stevie Wonder joined Chick Corea's band to play "Pastime Paradise" harmonica-style. This song is from Wonder’s acclaimed 1976 album.
3. Charlie Haden and Kenny Barron's 1996 album “Night and the City” remains a celebrated duet project. It features live recordings from their collaboration.
4. Clark Terry uses scat singing in the 1964 recording of “Mumbles,” accompanied by the Oscar Peterson Trio. This style involves improvising wordless syllables.
5. Mel Tormé's live version of “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square” was captured at the 1989 Newport Jazz Festival. Tormé and George Shearing performed as a duo.
6. “Auung San Suu Kiy” was composed by Herbie Hancock. It was performed by Hancock alongside Wayne Shorter and other notable musicians in early 2000s performances.
7. Wayne Shorter's composition "Footprints" was performed by Dave Liebman during his collaboration with Antonio Faraò. This piece is part of their live repertoire.
8. Christian McBride from the Pat Metheny Trio participated in the 2014 recording of "Afro Blue." His role cemented a deep rhythm-section familiarity with Antonio Sánchez.
9. "Pennies from Heaven" was recorded live at the Newport Casino in 1990 during a Louis Armstrong tribute concert. Wynton Marsalis participated in the performance.
10. The track “Pearl” appears on Bill Frisell and Thomas Morgan’s album “Small Town.” Released in 2017, it highlights their live performance at the Village Vanguard.
11. The 1985 GRP “Live from the Record Plant” session video was directed by Stanley Dorfman. It featured musical luminaries grouped around studio performances.
12. Eric Johnson and Mike Stern performed in New York City’s Blue Note Jazz Club in August 2013. Their set meshed jazz and instrumental rock styles.
