Wikipedia : This day (November 27, 1945), in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, is born Randy Brecker, an American trumpeter and flugelhornist.
Official Web Site : Randy’s history is as varied as it is distinguished. Born (1945) in Philadelphia to a piano-playing father, Randy’s musical talent was nurtured and encouraged from an early age….. I’d listen to Sonny Rollins, Lee Morgan, Miles’ Quintets, Art Blakey, Horace Silver, the Clifford Brown/Max Roach group.
@allmusic : Randy Brecker is essentially a fine hard bop trumpet soloist, but one versatile enough to fit into nearly any setting, including in the pop world, funk bands, and jazz fusion.
@last.fm : Randy Brecker is the older brother of the jazz saxophonist Michael Brecker (1949-2007). Together they led The Brecker Brothers, a popular funk and fusion band which recorded several albums from the 1970s through the 1990s.
@Discogs : His brother, the late Michael Brecker, was a jazz saxophonist.
