And the correct answers (in case you missed one or two) are:
1. “Do It for Love” peaked modestly at number 52 on the UK Singles Chart. Not quite a smash hit, but enough to mark Gaha’s second appearance on the chart during her London stint.
2. Ian McCulloch’s “Lover Lover Lover” recording uniquely retained Leonard Cohen’s original instrumentation. Strange for a cover, yet fitting for McCulloch’s style.
3. “Alone” by the Bee Gees features bagpipes, thanks to Robin Gibb’s insistence. Adds a Celtic flair that’s a tad unexpected in pop ballads.
4. Tony Di Bart’s “Turn Your Love Around” pleasantly surprised Dutch audiences, reaching number 44 on their singles chart. A modest dancefloor success story.
5. Mike Scott managed to shoot the music video for “Rare, Precious and Gone” at the meager cost of £5. Proves creativity doesn’t always require deep pockets.
6. Hinda Hicks charted at number 25 with “If You Want Me.” Respectable placement for a sophomore single climbing the UK chart.
7. Stuntmasterz expertly mashed Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine” with Modjo’s “Lady (Hear Me Tonight)” to create “The Lady Boy Is Mine.” Quite the catchy combo.
8. KREAM and Jake Tarry’s “Once Again” nods to hip-hop roots with a notable sample from A Tribe Called Quest. A rhythmic homage within electronic beats.
9. Ch!pz enjoyed chart-topping success in the Netherlands with their youthful single “Cowboy.” It galloped all the way to number one.
10. Luke Slater released the single “Rock Music Pays Off” under his alias Medicine8. A different groove from his usual techno adventures.
11. The Ones formed connections while working at Patricia Field’s boutique. Music, fashion, and enterprise — quintessential elements of New York’s underground scene.
12. Baby Bumps felt the groove with “I Got This Feeling,” hitting number 1 on Canada’s RPM Dance chart. Short-lived fame, but certainly a peak moment.
