Velvet Revolver Had the Guns, Just No Roses for Longevity, Says Matt Sorum
Matt Sorum, reminiscing on his post-Guns N' Roses chapter, shares how Velvet Revolver, hailed by its pedigree yet dogged by brevity, flirted with the scale of its predecessor. Formed in 2002 alongside Duff McKagan and Slash, with Dave Kushner rounding out the guitar work, the band launches into what becomes an exhaustive and drawn-out singer search.
Their potential flickers brighter than it sustains; the venture burns fast but ultimately fizzles. Sorum reflects, not without a trace of irony, that longevity—not talent—was its missing ingredient.
