LL Cool J maneuvers through New York City’s sonic legacy in the trailer for “Hip-Hop Was Born Here,” a five-part docuseries tracing the genre’s trajectory across boroughs and generations. The series assembles Method Man, Roxanne Shante, Grandmaster Caz, Big Daddy Kane, among others, as living archives of hip-hop’s evolution.

Set against the city’s ever-throbbing pulse, the episodes promise encounters with voices that shaped the genre before hashtags and TikTok dances diluted the message.
