Roger Daltrey accuses Zak Starkey of “character assassination” following Starkey's dismissal from The Who. Tensions surface after a backstage communication misfire during the Royal Albert Hall gigs, with Daltrey claiming he couldn’t hear the bass drum amid overwhelming sub-bass, leading to friction with the drummer.
Starkey recounts being asked to apologize for a mistake and later sarcastically complying using a duck character in a video. Though once reinstated, he claims he was quickly fired again. Daltrey insists only he and Townshend are “The Who”—the others, mere session players.
