Ringo Starr's Secret to Endless Touring? Broccoli, Not Pizza—Peace and Love!

Ringo Starr, the celebrated Beatles drummer embarking on his 22nd solo album 'Long Long Road', attributes his youthful vitality to his distinct culinary advice: more broccoli. He humorously credits broccoli for all his virtues, and ties it to his mantra: “peace and love.”

Starr’s allergen-conscious diet is well known, as last year he confirmed he’s never eaten pizza or curry. His unique habits keep him energized for new music and touring, marking yet another chapter in his long, illustrious career.

Ringo hits No. 1 twice in '74—while the others phone in cameos on his LP

Ringo Starr slides into Hot 100 history in 1974, becoming the only ex-Beatle with two No. 1 singles from one album and the only to pull off back-to-back chart-toppers. Rolling out “Photograph” with George Harrison and “You’re Sixteen,” Starr rides the wave of pop radio’s appetite with the album Ringo, produced by Richard Perry.

The album, which peaks at No. 2, features cameos from Lennon, McCartney, Nilsson, and members of The Band. UMe reissues his first four albums on colored vinyl with “Oh My My” stopping just shy at No. 5.

Ringo drums up drama as Zak Starkey’s Who exit hits encore level confusion

Ringo Starr doesn’t hold back after his son Zak Starkey is twice dismissed from The Who. Referring to Roger Daltrey as “that little man,” Starr responds to the chaotic firings with visible disdain.

Starkey, caught in a loop of on-again, off-again Whovian employment, recalls being told to keep his drums ready even post-dismissal, calling the whole ordeal “f--king insane.” After thirty years in the band, he’s still unsure if he’s out or just between gigs.
