Red Hot Chili Peppers nod politely as Netflix skips credits on Hillel doc
Red Hot Chili Peppers clarify they had zero creative input in the Netflix documentary centered on late guitarist Hillel Slovak, though they did agree to on-camera interviews out of respect. The band emphasizes the film is not about them but focuses solely on Slovak, a founding member who died in 1988.
Director Ben Feldman frames the story as one of teenage bonds turning into an iconic rock formation. Meanwhile, producer Michael Beinhorn reignites old tensions, calling frontman Anthony Kiedis "tone-deaf."

Netflix Revisits RHCP's Early Chaos and a Loss That Won’t Fade Quietly
Directed by Ben Feldman, an upcoming Netflix documentary traces Red Hot Chili Peppers' tangled origin story, zeroing in on the combustible early years that brewed their chaotic sound and turbulent friendships.
At the heart of the film is the death of original guitarist Hillel Slovak, whose absence haunts the band’s evolution like reverb clinging to a final, unfinished note.
