Post-rehab, he shifts to a milder pattern—now nursing a joint like it’s a fine whiskey, reserved for weekends or idle evenings. His memoir, released August 12, documents this pivot along with a near-overdose in 2010, when peace seemed dangerously close, curled on the floor, Lykke Li on repeat.

By 2015's Speedin’ Bullet to Heaven, he was researching suicide methods and scripting his own farewell. He describes feeling like a public savior who couldn’t rescue himself—a lighthouse adrift in his own storm.
