Paul Stanley Grants KISS Tributes a License—with a Lease and a Leash
Paul Stanley, appearing on the podcast "Howie Mandel Does Stuff," wades into the curious economics of impersonation. KISS tribute bands, those grease-painted echoes of the original, walk a tightrope—granted a license that can be yanked without warning.
With a tone veering somewhere between stern administrator and amused proprietor, Stanley frames it as a transactional affair. Play the part for now, but remember who's holding the switch.
Paul Stanley ranks 'Alive!' top KISS album—nostalgia, not decibels, wins out
Asked by Justin Richmond on the Broken Record podcast to name his top five KISS albums, Paul Stanley doesn’t dodge sentiment. He gives the crown to "Kiss Alive!", citing its ability to crystallize the band’s live energy—a quality often diluted in studio efforts.
Each pick, he insists, carries its weight for different reasons, suggesting a blend of nostalgia and strategic reflection. Stanley isn’t rating technical finesse; he’s recognizing pivotal moments in the band’s narrative.
