Forget Me Nots lingers as Patrice Rushen lands a 2026 NEA Jazz Masters nod
Patrice Rushen, whose 1982 hit "Forget Me Nots" keeps resurfacing in contemporary samples, joins the 2026 class of NEA Jazz Masters alongside composer Carmen Lundy, percussionist Airto Moreira, and broadcaster Rhonda Hamilton. Each receives a $25,000 fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.
The group will be honored in April at Washington D.C.'s Kennedy Center, marking the NEA's tribute to jazz during America’s 250th anniversary. Rushen, notably the first woman to direct the Grammys, brings R&B, jazz, and classical influences together.
