Royel Otis resurrects 'Murder on the Dancefloor' with Ellis-Bextor at Reading 2025
During their main stage set at Reading 2025, Australian duo Royel Otis invite Sophie Ellis-Bextor to join them for a live rendition of her 2001 hit “Murder On The Dancefloor.”
The move, equal parts homage and theatrical flourish, momentarily blurs the line between nostalgia and novelty as Ellis-Bextor quips about the crowd’s age before launching into the track.
They balance this throwback with selections from their just-dropped sophomore album ‘Hickey’—including ‘Moody’ and ‘Car’—and crowd magnets like ‘Kool Aid.’
The duo later admit to ambivalence about relying on iconic covers but concede to their crowd-pleasing potency.
