Kevin Parker's Snooze-Fest Win: Tame Impala Bags Grammy While He Naps

Kevin Parker of Tame Impala wins the Best Dance/Electronic Recording Grammy for 'End Of Summer'. Amusingly, he sleeps through the ceremony, admitting he forgot it was even on.

In a chat with Mac DeMarco, he relates the surprise of waking up to a barrage of congratulatory messages, bemused by the lack of context.

‘End Of Summer’, part of Tame Impala’s album ‘Deadbeat’, draws inspiration from the acid house movement. The band is set to tour the UK and Europe, while Parker collaborates with Thundercat and other artists.

Tame Impala stakes another claim with “Dracula” at No. 1 on Alternative Airplay

Tame Impala, Kevin Parker’s solitary sonic venture, resurfaces atop Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart with “Dracula,” marking a second crown after last year’s fleeting reign with Justice on “Neverender.”

Originally climbing the airplay ladders with 2013’s “Elephant,” Parker’s latest nocturnal anthem also claws its way to No. 2 on Adult Alternative and remains static at No. 3 on Rock & Alternative Airplay, attracting 3.9 million ears in a week.

“Dracula,” lifted from fifth LP Deadbeat, finds crossover oxygen on Adult Pop at No. 19 and Pop Airplay at No. 28, sustaining its Billboard Hot 100 peak at No. 30.

Kevin Parker scrolls past praise, hunts online hate before bed—call it sonic masochism

Kevin Parker, the architect behind Tame Impala, confesses to a peculiar nightly ritual: combing through online commentary until the compliments wear thin and the criticism begins. His aim isn’t to bask in admiration but to face the digital scowls head-on.

The 39-year-old artist reveals a tendency to seek out the negative, candidly admitting he’ll scroll “until I find the hate.” It’s part masochism, part curiosity—sonic vulnerability in the age of feedback loops.

Kevin Parker trades kaleidoscope pop for crunchier bush doof on new Tame Impala LP

Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker gears up for Deadbeat, his fifth studio album, out October 17 via Sony Music. Reimagining his sonic project as a “future primitive rave act,” he mines Australia’s bush doof heritage with a self-aware nod to lo-fi minimalism and textural crunch.

“Loser,” the second release following July’s “End of Summer,” features Stranger Things’ Joe Keery and a Kristofski-directed video. Parker, the perennial one-man unit, recorded much of it in his Fremantle base and Wave House studio in Injidup.
